v4.15.0 Release Notes

New Features

  • Level 65 is here with new units, buildings, missions, and more! Once you reach level 65, you’ll start earning prestige again. Note: current XP gained towards prestige will carry over to advancing your level.
  • It’s time to put your graphic design skills to the test. Initial guild icon customization is now live! Get creative, hoist your new insignia, and strike fear into the hearts of your rivals.
  • The Ridgy-Didge is now available to fight as a repeatable boss! Apparently, Bogan’s “Emperor” sandworm wasn’t exactly the top of the food chain, seeing as its meaner cousin is back for revenge. Slay the Ridgy-Didge to claim its razor-sharp teeth and the skulls of its bygone lunches. You might even pacify one of its adult worm henchmen and use it to fight for the glory of the Empire! Also, to let Floyd study it for research or something. That'd be nice too. Keep an eye out for it every week at Bogan’s House.
  • Our artist @Reed has spent much of the past year updating many of the early game art assets to look sharper on high-resolution screens while preserving the classic BN style. The initial focus has been on buildings, especially early-level content. Along the way, we have also added improvements like seamless grass, increased zoom, and some enhancements to raider buildings to boost the visual quality of early NPC maps. There is still more work ahead, but we have reached a solid milestone and are excited to finally share these assets while continuing on with further levels. iOS will now autofill OTP codes for login. Users on iOS 17+ will be able to autofill when using the Apple Mail app. Users on iOS 26+ will be able to autofill from most 3rd party mail apps, too.

Changes

  • We have made significant improvements to memory management in Battle Nations. Most memory leaks have been identified and fixed, and we’ve optimized away high allocation patterns. As a result, we’ve lowered the minimum RAM requirements for preloading assets to 2GB, down from 4GB. Additionally, longer play sessions should result in less frequent OOM crashes, and memory-constrained devices should be less likely to enter low memory mode. As a reminder, if the OS sends the game a low memory warning, the game will stop preloading assets to avoid being killed by the OS, and thus your load times will increase. If this happens and your device has more than 2GB of RAM, we recommend closing other background apps and then restarting the game.
  • We’ve removed support for ETC2 textures on Android due to increased texture sizes to improve visual quality. This should have minimal impact for most users based on our installed device base. If you are on a device without ASTC texture support (generally, very old Android devices), you may experience loading issues.
  • We’ve lowered all naval units that previously had a player level 66 unit rank prerequisite to a player level 65 unit rank prerequisite.
  • Solar Power Plant has undergone extensive renovations.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue with environmental DOT causing spawn on death units not to spawn in certain situations.
  • Updated engine to fix a couple of different high-volume crashes on Windows systems.
  • Updated Steam SDK to try resolving hanging issues seen on some Windows systems.
  • Improved handling of network errors during battle.
  • Fixed the garrison range issue that would cause garrisons to not deploy on some maps, like New Haven.
  • Fixed an issue that would occur if a player equipped abilities on a unit that was preplaced in a battle. Previously, the attacks would be preset and would not work, but now they will use the ones the player equipped.

Commanders, the Emperor has taken notice of your hard work. Players who exceed the max level cap will now be rewarded with Prestige Stars—gleaming marks of distinction reserved for the elite. Exceed level 56 to indulge your lavish tastes by presenting these shiny status symbols to the esteemed units of the Prestige Academy. In exchange, you’ll unlock advanced radio technology and specialized units to strengthen your forces and aid in the campaign against the Ancient Sentinel.

v4.14.0 Release Notes

New Features

  • Level cap raised to 56
  • Prestige is now implemented! Once you hit the max player level, you’ll start filling the XP bar to earn prestige stars. Every 200k XP will earn you 15 stars.
  • Fight again is now available for normal encounters when you retreat/lose. For encounters where you are intended to lose the battle, the fight again button will not be available.
  • Added a leaderboard for guild member performance in Boss Strikes. This will show you all guild members’ performance in past Boss Strikes ranked against each other, even if they were not a part of the guild for the selected Boss Strike.

  • The prestigious academy level prereq has been lowered to 56 to allow training prestige units.

  • Added a unit favorites tab. Hit the star icon in the top left corner of the unit icon in the unit info panel to add it to your favorites list. Please note that the favorite lists are not currently cloud synced and are specific to your device. Cloud sync for favorites lists will come in a future update.

  • Fixed units not having cold immunity
  • Fixed certain conditions that would cause the client to incorrectly show prestige earned when leveling up to level 56 when no prestige was actually earned
  • Fixed NPC portrait in level-up UI only having Morgan

v4.14.3 Release Notes

Changes

  • BC-3 Cobra Rank 7 Player Level Prereq has been removed
  • Thresher Tank Rank 7 Player Level Prereq has been removed
  • UH-1B SkyRaptor Rank 2 and 3 upgrades have had their upgrade times lowered to 2 minutes, and the player level prereqs have been removed
  • The game no longer preloads all assets at initial launch to help improve memory usage. This may increase load times when interacting with various parts of the game for the first time. However, for devices with more than 4 GB of RAM, loaded assets will remain loaded, so future interactions do not have the same loading penalty. Devices with less than 4GB of RAM will always unload assets to ensure the game is not killed by the operating system for overusing RAM. If the operating system signals a low memory event, the game will always unload assets until it is relaunched. This should help improve compatibility with lower spec devices while minimizing impact on high-end devices. Please let us know if you notice any abnormalities resulting from this change.

  • Fixed DOT damage bypassing armor when a unit is stunned
  • Fixed inconsistency between client and server for cooldowns on stunned units
  • Increased the strictness of prereq checks when constructing a new building
  • Fixed some enemy tiles being untappable when using the inspect tool
  • Fixed issues with raiding defenses at New Haven and other NPC maps. You should be able to attack from any side, rather than only the diagonals, to trigger defenses like garrisons.

Commanders, The dev team has taken notice of your complaints, messages, and the occasional thesis posted on the HQ door regarding your difficulties with this Boss Strike. First, a bit of context on why you’ve found yourselves facing Boss Strike 13. Our archive of Boss Strike scenarios is… limited. Some are corrupted, some like the first Shrow encounter have been overwritten, and others… well, we’re not prepared to subject you to the Navy just yet.

It’s also worth noting that Z2’s Boss Strikes were originally designed around the promotional units released at the time. Those units were, in many cases, doing a significant amount of the heavy lifting. We have always felt that promotional units negatively impacted gameplay and needed a targeted rebalance. But the fact remains that the system was built with those promotional units in mind. This has left us with a very difficult deck of Boss Strikes.

We first attempted to make some adjustments through rewards, such as increasing access to anti-air and reducing timers. However, we recognize that reaching Rank 5 remains a challenge for many players. The fact remains that the simplest solution is to broaden the units in your arsenal. So to address this, we’ve looked into the past and decided to revisit a piece of Battle Nations history, albeit with trepidation, re-release Boss Strike 13’s promotional unit.

All players will be receiving two Nomad Elemental Rovers. That said, we’ve consistently maintained that promotional units would not return until broader balance adjustments were in place. If you choose to purchase additional Nomads in the vehicle factory beyond those included in this drop, please keep in mind that they will be subject to future rebalancing.

Yuzul the Raptor Trainer and his army of raiders are gearing up to attack any imperial vestige they can find! Yuzul’s Boss Strike will run December 18th-21st, during which his onslaught of ferocious raiders will bear down on the Northern Frontier. Fend them off and donate resources to your guild for a chance at some hefty rewards. Gears, bars, vials, laurels and more resources will all be available as well as new units like the V-14 Maverick and BC-1 Snake. You must be a guild member before the beginning of the Boss Strike or else you will be ineligible for the rewards.

Our strength is in numbers now Commander, let’s join forces and defeat this mounted menace! Besides, it wouldn’t hurt to have some company around the outpost now and then.

  • Infected encounters now spawn across the world map and your home base. Keep an eye out for them now until October 31st!

Bug Fixes

  • Reduced button cooldown on retreat and pass buttons to fix perceived lag
  • Fixed unit icon stretching for certain units
  • Immediately spawn a round of encounters when activating new spawn tables. This should help reduce the jarring loss of encounters when reaching certain level milestones.
